Sengkang's good show

05:55 AM Feb 18, 2010 SINGAPORE - They have not managed to finish above 10th spot in the S-League in the last five years, and it looked to be a case of same-old, same-old when perennial strugglers Sengkang Punggol fell 2-1 to Balestier Khalsa in their opening game of the 2010 season last week.

But now, there are signs Sengkang could be in for a different kind of season in the Great Eastern-Yeo's S-League this year. The Dolphins followed up a 1-0 win over Gombak United with a 2-2 draw with French outfit Etoile FC last night at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

When Jordan Webb scored 12 minutes from time with the score at 1-1, it looked as if the points were in the bag for Sengkang. But skipper Matthias Verschave scored with what was effectively the last touch of the game to deflate the Dolphins. SHAMIR OSMAN
